Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 14, 2026
1. Introduction
EcoRouter is an experimental AI service operated by ChatGPTree (“EcoRouter,” “we,” “us”). This Privacy Policy explains what information EcoRouter collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you. EcoRouter is under active development — features described here may change, and this policy will be updated to reflect them.
Because EcoRouter is experimental, please do not submit confidential information, highly sensitive personal information, privileged information, proprietary information you are not authorized to share, or credentials and secrets, through the service.
2. Information You Provide
- Account information, if you create an EcoRouter account — see Account Information below.
- The questions and messages you type into EcoRouter's chat interface.
- Content you choose to publish to Public Knowledge or contribute to a Knowledge Channel.
- Payment and subscription details you provide to Stripe when upgrading to EcoRouter Pro — EcoRouter does not receive or store your full card number; see Service Providers.
- If you submit the EcoRouter Teams interest form: your name, work email, organization, team size, and optional use case and message. EcoRouter stores only what you type, uses it to follow up about Teams, and makes it visible only to EcoRouter administrators.
3. Public Knowledge
When you choose to publish a question and answer to Public Knowledge (for example, by clicking “Make Public”), that content becomes a public page on EcoRouter with its own URL. Public Knowledge:
- Can be viewed by anyone with the link, and by anyone browsing EcoRouter's public catalog.
- May be indexed by search engines — EcoRouter's current configuration allows this.
- May be shared, cached, or referenced by others, including outside EcoRouter, once published. We cannot guarantee removal from services or copies outside our control.
- Is attributed only by your Forest Identity, a chosen public display name — never your email address or internal account identifier.
- May be commented on by other users where commenting is enabled.
You, or EcoRouter’s Platform Admin moderation, can remove content from Public Knowledge. A removed entry’s page becomes a notice that the content is no longer available — its former answer, comments, and other details are no longer shown publicly. Removal does not retroactively erase copies made by others before removal (for example, a screenshot, a search-engine cache, or a page saved elsewhere).
If Public Knowledge you published was separately added to a Knowledge Channel before you (or Platform Admin moderation) removed it from Public Knowledge, that Channel’s own copy is unaffected and remains visible to that Channel’s authorized members — see Knowledge Channels below.
Do not publish confidential, sensitive, proprietary, or privileged information to Public Knowledge.
4. Account Information
If you create an EcoRouter account, authentication is handled by Clerk, our identity provider (see Service Providers). EcoRouter itself stores an internal account ID, your email address (as provided by Clerk), your display name, your chosen Forest Identity (a public display character and its sequential public label), and — if you subscribe to EcoRouter Pro — a reference to your Stripe subscription (subscription ID and status, never your card number).
Some EcoRouter accounts may be granted a Platform Admin role: a narrow internal capability limited to moderating Public Knowledge (for example, removing content that violates our policies). Platform Admin status does not grant broader access to other users’ private conversations or Private Knowledge Channels.
EcoRouter may mark staff and test accounts as internal so their activity can be left out of usage statistics. This label grants no access of any kind.
5. Conversations and AI Processing
When you ask EcoRouter a question, your message is analyzed and routed to an appropriate AI model to generate a response.
- For anonymous visitors and Free-tier signed-in users, ordinary chat conversations are not stored by EcoRouter after your session ends. EcoRouter does not keep a persistent record of everyday chat unless you take an explicit action described elsewhere in this policy — publishing to Public Knowledge, contributing to a Knowledge Channel, or (EcoRouter Pro) explicitly saving a conversation.
- EcoRouter Pro subscribers may choose to save a conversation to their private history. Saved conversations are stored and visible only to that account.
- To generate a response, your message content may be sent to one or more third-party AI providers, depending on which model EcoRouter routes your question to. For questions EcoRouter identifies as time-sensitive, your query may also be sent to a search provider to retrieve current information — see AI and Search Providers under Service Providers.
- EcoRouter records technical measurements about each response (which model was used, token counts, cost, timing, and whether existing Knowledge was recommended) to show you an EcoReceipt and to count overall usage. These records never include your prompt or answer text, your IP address, or a device identifier. For anonymous visitors they are not linked to any account or conversation.
6. Knowledge Channels
Knowledge Channels let a group curate and reuse Knowledge privately or among a defined membership. A Channel’s content is visible only to its authorized members (a Private Channel) or, for a Public Channel, to anyone with access to it — never indexed as part of the global Public Knowledge catalog. EcoRouter’s access controls for Channels are enforced server-side on every request, not merely hidden in the interface.
7. Analytics and Usage Information
EcoRouter uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand overall site usage — for example, how many people visit, which pages are viewed, and general traffic trends. This integration:
- Does not use cookies and does not create a persistent identifier for you across visits or across other sites.
- Collects aggregate, anonymized information such as page URL, referrer, approximate geographic region, device and browser type, and timestamp.
- Does not receive your chat prompts, AI answers, Public Knowledge content, file contents, email address, or account identifier as part of this integration.
- Is the only web analytics tool currently used by EcoRouter — no other analytics vendor is installed.
EcoRouter does not currently send custom, product-specific analytics events (for example, tracking which questions you ask or which answers you publish).
8. Files and Context
If you upload files, documents, or other materials to EcoRouter for use as conversation or Knowledge context, EcoRouter may store those materials and associated metadata, such as the filename, file size, file type, uploader, and the conversation or Channel to which the material is attached.
EcoRouter may extract text or other usable content from uploaded materials and use that content as context when processing your requests. Depending on the request and routing decision, relevant file content may be transmitted to third-party AI or infrastructure providers that help operate EcoRouter.
Uploaded materials may remain stored until you delete them, they are removed under applicable product or retention rules, or EcoRouter otherwise deletes them as part of operating the service. Deleting a file may not immediately remove copies retained temporarily in backups, logs, caches, or by service providers where permitted or required.
You should only upload materials that you have the right to use and share. Do not upload confidential, privileged, highly sensitive, proprietary, or regulated information unless you understand and accept the risks of having that information processed through an experimental AI service.
EcoRouter may impose limits on supported file types, file size, storage, upload volume, and access based on account type or product features. Files associated with private conversations or private Knowledge Channels are intended to remain within the applicable access controls, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
EcoRouter does not currently represent that uploaded files are comprehensively malware-scanned. You are responsible for exercising appropriate care with files you upload or access.
9. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- provide and operate EcoRouter;
- maintain and improve the reliability and functionality of the service;
- secure the service and detect abuse — for example, using IP addresses transiently, in memory, to apply rate limits and reduce excessive automated use; EcoRouter does not persist IP addresses to a database;
- evaluate and improve EcoRouter's routing and efficiency measurements;
- research and develop EcoRouter and related features.
We do not currently use your raw conversation content to train AI models, and we do not sell your personal information.
10. Service Providers
EcoRouter relies on the following third-party service providers, each processing information as necessary to provide their part of the service. Each is subject to its own privacy policy and terms.
- Clerk — authentication and account/session management.
- Stripe — payment processing and subscription billing for EcoRouter Pro. EcoRouter does not receive or store your full payment card number; Stripe handles that directly.
- OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google — AI model providers that may process your prompt content to generate a response, depending on EcoRouter's routing decision for your question.
- Brave Search — used to retrieve current information for questions EcoRouter identifies as time-sensitive.
- Railway — hosting infrastructure for EcoRouter's backend service.
- Vercel — hosting infrastructure for EcoRouter's website, and provider of the Web Analytics described above.
11. Data Retention
- Public Knowledge content persists until removed (by you or by Platform Admin moderation), after which its page becomes a notice that it is no longer available.
- EcoRouter Pro saved conversations persist until you delete them or your account is closed.
- Anonymous and Free-tier chat sessions are not retained by EcoRouter once your session ends.
- Usage measurements (model tier, token counts, cost, timestamp, and whether Knowledge was recommended — never prompt or answer text) are kept to understand how EcoRouter is used. Anonymous measurements carry no account, conversation, or device identifier.
- Rate-limiting counters, which may transiently reflect IP-based activity, are held in memory only and are cleared on every server restart or deployment.
- Account and subscription records persist for as long as your account exists.
12. Security
EcoRouter uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the current stage of the service — for example, verifying identity through signed session tokens, and enforcing authorization checks on every request for private or restricted content. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Your Choices and Rights
You can:
- choose what to publish to Public Knowledge, and remove content you previously published;
- delete conversations you have saved (EcoRouter Pro);
- change your Forest Identity display character;
- manage or cancel your EcoRouter Pro subscription through the Stripe billing portal.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information under applicable law, such as rights to access, correct, or delete certain information. See Contact below to make a request.
14. Children's Privacy
EcoRouter is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13, or the minimum age required by applicable law in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as EcoRouter changes. We will update the “Last updated” date above, and for material changes we will make reasonable efforts to provide additional notice.
16. Contact
EcoRouter does not yet have a dedicated privacy contact address. For questions about this policy, you can currently reach the team through ChatGPTree, EcoRouter’s parent organization.
