how does knowledge sequestration work?

Knowledge Sequestration is EcoRouter’s approach to reducing the need for redundant AI generation. Its core principle is simple: generate once when necessary, and reuse that knowledge when appropriate.

It works alongside our routing system, but while routing aims to minimize the amount of computation used when generation is required, Knowledge Sequestration aims to prevent unnecessary generation from happening in the first place.

Here is how it functions today:

• Knowledge Reuse V1: Before a new answer is generated, EcoRouter checks our Public Knowledge database to see if a strong match already exists.
• Matching Method: This process currently relies on exact or conservative lexical matching. It does not use semantic or embedding-based matching, and it is not applied to questions involving volatile or current information.
• User Choice: If a strong match is identified, EcoRouter recommends the existing answer. You then have the choice to either reuse that trusted knowledge or explicitly opt to generate a new answer.
• Building Public Knowledge: If you are in a private chat and want to contribute a high-quality answer to the community, you can choose to add it to Public Knowledge. This involves a review step, and only that specific question-and-answer pair is published. Conversely, questions and answers in public channels automatically become Public Knowledge, while those in private channels remain private.

Essentially, by preserving and sharing useful answers, we create a collective resource that allows the network to become more efficient over time, avoiding the energy cost of recreating the same information repeatedly.
