And If intelligence becomes abundant, what stays scarce?

When intelligence (the capacity to process information and solve problems) becomes abundant and commoditized, the following factors transition from common to scarce:

1. Context and Provenance Information is everywhere, but context—knowing why a specific problem matters to a specific organization at a specific time—is rare. Knowing the pedigree, source, and chain of custody of a piece of information becomes more valuable than the information itself. Trust becomes a high-premium asset.

2. Human Judgment and Agency Abundant intelligence can provide options, but it cannot choose. The ability to weigh competing values, take moral responsibility for outcomes, and exercise agency in the face of ambiguity remains human-centric. Wisdom—the application of intelligence to navigate complex, value-laden tradeoffs—cannot be automated.

3. Intent and Problem Framing Systems are excellent at finding answers, but they are generally passive regarding the questions. The capacity to identify the "right" problem to solve—the strategic intuition to look at a market or a crisis and ask a question that changes the trajectory of an entity—is the primary bottleneck for progress.

4. High-Fidelity Human Connection As synthetic output floods the digital ecosystem, authentic human experience becomes a luxury good. Scarcity shifts toward environments, interactions, and products that are demonstrably "human-made," involving the idiosyncratic risks, lived experiences, and emotional resonance that synthetic models can mimic but never actually possess.

5. Attention As the cost of producing high-quality content drops, the volume of noise increases exponentially. Human attention is biologically finite. In an era of abundant intelligence, the ability to curate, filter, and direct focus toward high-leverage outcomes is the most significant competitive advantage an individual or organization can possess.
